Thom Pringle - by Riley Blakeway

THOM IS LIKE, SO GENERATION Y from Riley Blakeway on Vimeo.

Thom Pringle loves rainy days. It means a break from his concreting job and some time to surf. It's bittersweet though – it means he doesn't earn any money that day, which makes it harder to pay for his next surf trip. Until very recently, Thom's funded all his own overseas trips.

"I just work for my dad," says Thom, "I work with my brother and a coupla other dudes. We pour slabs, do driveways, do pathways, all that sort of stuff. It's physical labour, pretty hard work. It makes it difficult trying to find time to surf. When you come home from work, you're super-tired and your knees are really sore from bending over all day. There's been a lot of wet weather lately though, so I've been able to surf a fair bit."

Thom says he doesn't get too much heat around the work site, despite his awesomely fruity hair and steeze. Thom dresses, skates and surfs for himself. This clip, put together by Riley Blakeway, is a truer representation of Thom's surfing than you've ever seen. The clips are outtakes from the film Riles just made for Chippa Wilson – NOW. Riles says that the clips, though of a high standard, didn't quite fit into the vibe of the film. He decided they were too good to never see the light of day, so he sliced 'em up and added some music. Watch out for the last spinner, which we ran as a full frame a while back.
