Congrats To The Maniacs - A Comparison between Laird's Millenium Wave and Bruce's Boardshort Tearer
Eleven years ago Laird Hamilton blew minds when he launched into a Teahupo'o monster. The wave was so thick and heavy that it was dubbed the "Millenium Wave" and "the heaviest ever ridden".
On 17 August 2000 Laird did indeed redefine what could be surfed ... but on 27 August 2011 Bruce Irons took one giant leap in big-wave tow surfing....
A neatly cut and inspiring comparison between Laird Hamilton's "Millennium Wave" in 2000 and Bruce Irons' "Boardies Tearer" on his monumental Tow-In wave during the Code Red Session, Billabong Pro Tahiti, 2011.
